Norman Catalogue 2034 ‘Sutton was the first to publish a description of alcoholic delirium tremens, in which he gave it its name and distinguished it from other delirious conditions. He treated the condition successfully with large doses of opium and with mild purges’. First Edition. Sutton's original description, which gave its name to delirium tremens. Sutton clearly distinguished this condition from other psychoses associated with brain diseases and described his successful treatments with opium.
