First published in 1799 by Lesguilles Frères, Bookseller-Publisher, in 9 large duodecimo volumes; the second edition dates from 1801 in 12 duodecimo volumes and includes only a general table of contents as an addition. This the third edition dates from 1807, also in 12 volumes in 12mo format, revised by M. Jondot, who is criticized for having made arbitrary deletions. Notes on the Egyptians, Jews, Syrians, Persians, Macedonians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Rome, Constantinople, as well as Sweden, Denmark, Russia, etc.
